Partnering with Parents
As a support and extension of the family unit, Vail Christian Academy considers the family to be of first importance to a child. God, through His Word, indicates that the family is the most important human institution He designed. He compares it to the relationship believers have with Christ and the Father.
Ultimately it is the parents’ responsibility to educate their children. Therefore, we encourage and seek ways to actively involve parents, siblings, and grandparents in the programs of the school. In Romans chapter 12: 3-8 we are reminded that each member of the body of Christ has been gifted to contribute to the body in some capacity.
We have an active Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) that hold monthly meetings and coordinated many of the volunteer efforts at the school. All parents are welcome and encouraged to join the PTF. The PTF exists for the express purpose of serving Vail Christian Academy’s families, teachers, school board and administration, and to promote fellowship and close relationships between these members of the school and community.
We ask every family to give 20 hrs of their time each year to help support VCA. Many opportunities exist for parents to be involved in the Academy, below are just some of the activities that may be available to parents.
-Support the teacher in special projects or weekly programs.
-Assist the teacher in the classroom.
-Assist in the school office, library, computer lab, kitchen or lunchroom.
-Aid in the preparation of bulletin boards or classroom materials.
-Provide transportation and act as a chaperon on field trips.
-Share vocations, experiences, or travels.
-Help host class parties in the classroom or off campus.
-Invite a teacher or staff member to join your family for a meal or activity.
