Board of Directors

Vail Christian Academy is governed by a Board of Directors. The VCA Board is responsible for overseeing the operation of the school including finances, curriculum, staffing, fundraising and many other strategic decisions. Made up with passionate and committed parents and community members, the Board of Directors supports the teachers and Head of School to cultivate the Jesus Way at VCA. VCA’s Board of Directors meet monthly year-round.

  • David Lyle

    CHAIRMAN / PRESIDENT

    David Lyle is a professional engineer and partner at BG Buildingworks where he specializes in design and consulting for building systems. Born in Pennsylvania and raised as an “Army Brat” David grew up on military bases throughout Germany and the United States. David studied Architectural Engineering at Kansas State University and moved to Colorado in 1994. David has served on the Vail Christian Academy Board of Directors for 14 years, most recently stepping in as acting Head of School from 2020-2023. David is an elder at the Vail Church, and actively serves the Vail Christian High School, VCA and Vail Church communities. As the Chairman of VCA’s board, David oversees the overall project management of VCA and supports operational and campus safety and security needs. David and his wife Kelly live in Edwards with their children Ryan and Shannon, and pet dogs Chip, Bently, and Oliver.

  • Billy Iverson

    VICE-PRESIDENT

    Billy Iverson has called the Vail Valley home since the age of three. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Colorado and a Master's in Real Estate and Construction Management from the University of Denver. With a professional background in real estate development, Billy now serves as a real estate agent and a branch manager at Slifer Smith & Frampton. Billy’s family has been actively involved with Vail Christian Academy since its inception, and he is deeply passionate about the school’s mission and future. An avid golfer, he also enjoys camping, boating, and taking full advantage of the outdoor lifestyle the valley offers with his Wife (Lindsey), Son (Jack), and Daughter (Eloise). Billy is honored to serve on the board and contribute to the continued growth and success of the VCA community.

  • Dan O'Shaughnessy

    TREASURER

    Daniel James O'Shaughnessy is the Chief I️nvestment Officer for BNP Paribas Headge Fund, and a Private Equity Investor. He graduated from Drexel University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He later received his MBA in I️nternational Finance from Villanove University. Dan serves as the VCA Board Treasurer and Finance Chair. He works closely with the Head of School and Board Chairman to support the financial and strategic planning needs of VCA. Dan is married to Caralyn and they have three sons, Jack, Aidan and Quinn.

  • Nate Morris

    Pastor Nate Morris is the senior pastor at Mountain Life Calvary Chapel with campuses in the Vail Valley and Roaring Fork Valley of Colorado. Originally from Colorado, Pastor Nate is the author of Weary World Rejoices and host of two podcasts, the Truth + Love Podcast featuring special guest commentary, and Unscripted, a weekly discussion about the previous week's sermon. Nate has served on the Vail Christian Academy board since 2018 and supports the pastoral ministry and leadership of VCA. He and his wife Jen live in Eagle with their three children, sons Caleb and Josiah, and daughter, Zoe, and loveable goldendoodle Timber.

  • BRITNEY BRANSON

    Britney Branson is a small business owner, proud Vail Valley native, and former Division I athlete who brings passion and leadership to everything she does. A graduate of Battle Mountain High School, she was a standout volleyball player—earning All-American honors and a state title—before going on to play at Northeastern University. There, she was a four-year starter, multiple-time All-Conference selection, and 2010 CAA Player of the Year. She holds a degree in Business Marketing and played professionally in Sweden before transitioning into coaching.

    Britney spent five years as an assistant coach at Laramie County Community College, developing top-tier talent. In 2017, she returned home with her husband Matt to run Novus Glass and raise their three daughters. She continues to give back as head volleyball coach at Vail Christian High School—leading her team to a league championship and earning Western Slope 2A Coach of the Year honors. Off the court, she’s an engaged parent and community volunteer, committed to serving the hometown that shaped her.

  • KERRY STARZEC

    Kerry Starzec is an active community member with many volunteer commitments across the Vail Valley. Kerry served as the art teacher at Vail Christian Academy for the 2024-25 academic year and was the head of Parent Teacher Fellowship. Additionally, Kerry serves regularly in the Children’s Ministry at The Vail Church and on the leadership team of the Women's Impact Network of Eagle County.  Although Kerry was born in Chicago and raised in London, she has been part of the Vail Valley community since 1999. She graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Political Economy and worked in finance in New York and London for Goldman Sachs and later Morgan Stanley.  Kerry met her husband Jeff in 2013 and they have three children Olivia (9), Scarlett(7) and Will(6) who are all thriving at VCA. Kerry is committed to sharing the light at VCA with as many people as possible. 

  • IAN WIDMER

    Ian Widmer is the President and CEO of Progression Brands Group, a global operating company focusing on the high-end winter sports market.  Prior to Progression Brands Group, Ian held a variety of Senior Leadership positions at Canada Goose from 2009 through his post IPO exit in 2017.  He graduated from Colorado College with a joint Bachelors Degree in American History and Political Science, later earning his MBA from the University of Colorado, Leeds School of Business.  Ian and his wife Kristine live in Minturn where they raise their children, Kathryn (10) and Max (9), who are thriving since joining VCA.  As a global business leader and entrepreneur, Ian values a well thought out strategic roadmap that brings vision, transparency and accountability together.  "Build the plan, Work the plan, Execute the plan".  This is Ian's mantra, and he is excited to collaborate with the board and school community to help VCA grow, while preserving the culture and legacy that makes it so special.

VCA utilizes rolling 3-year board terms. We are constantly seeking engaged community members and parents who are interested in serving on VCA’s board.
